Relational Team Talk (RTT) works with teams from different sectors to improve the wellbeing of everyone who is part of the process of making an organisation function.

RTT’s workshops are developed from Siobhan and Johnny's experience of working in acute, fast-paced and high-pressured settings, alongside our psychological understanding, techniques and therapies.

RTT's training packages are designed to strengthen teams' ability to cope with the impact that stressful working environments can have on both individual and group psychological health, wellbeing, and relationships (with ourselves and other team members).

Internally, or intra-personally:

We are constantly in communication with ourselves which involves thinking, feeling, reactions and bodily sensations, all of which aims to establish and recognise our own needs and responses.

Inter-personally

We are often in communication with others, an interpersonal meeting between two or more people which involves spoken and unspoken thoughts, feelings and dynamics.

Broader context or system

There is always communication happening around us including from within the workplace system and/or specific work context or situation, and where there are spoken and unspoken thoughts, feelings, values and much more.

These three relational patterns of interaction are simultaneously in play at any one time, highlighting the complexity of workplace relationships. Furthermore, when under stress, we can all revert to more narrow ways of relating and coping, which can lead to tensions, conflicts, and engagement in unhealthy behaviours. This helps to explain why difficulties and tensions can increase in teams when they are under stress and high pressure, and why individuals may experience reduced wellbeing and burnout over time.

We know that greater awareness of these relational patterns of interaction (or relational intelligence) can significantly help teams and individuals to navigate difficulties and recover from high-stress and impactful events. This means that both individual and team wellbeing is improved, and performance is strengthened.
